Eastern Communications mounts Business Solutions Expos

In line with its commitment to help emerging businesses and enterprises achieve greater success, Eastern Communications recently mounted its first Business Solutions Expo for the year called Exceed at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel.

The first in a series of business expos from Eastern Communications, Exceed aimed to educate and equip emerging businesses and enterprises with the knowledge to help them exceed in their field.

Opening the program was Forster Bambo, Eastern Communications Sales Strategic Business Unit Head who shared how Eastern Communications is looking forward to becoming the partner of emerging businesses and enterprises.

“Eastern Communications has been in the business of delivering connectivity for the past 140 years but taking into consideration the needs of our clients, we have embarked on a rebranding campaign. We are focusing on our core strength, which is high level customer engagement and bringing in more connectivity solutions,” said Catherine Muynila, Marketing Division Head of Eastern Communications.

The expo touched on various topics such as digital security preparedness, marketing and branding advice, and even shared IT predictions for various industries that will enable emerging businesses and enterprises gear up for success in the business arena.

The morning session opened with a talk on Cybersecurity from Gen Macalinao of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), who explained the increasing importance of safeguarding digital channels when doing business in the digital world, given that no industry or institution – whether public or private – is immune to cyber-attacks.

Gen Macalinao, a representative from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) talked about the importance of safeguarding a business’ digital channels in an era of high cybersecurity threats.

As of 2012, 2,778 cybercrime related crimes had been recorded in the Philippines – targeting sensitive data that may cause terminal damage to any institution. The DICT’s National Cybersecurity Plan for 2022 is campaigning for cyber resiliency of Filipino businesses and is advising companies to invest in security systems.

Meanwhile, Bill Velasco, veteran freelance sports analyst and entrepreneur, talked about how to create strong connections in the digital sphere in an era of accelerated change.

Anchoring his talk on five basic principles, Velasco shared that to stay connected to their customers, companies must first, decide what they stand for, second, to identify weaknesses and turn them into strengths, third, openness to what the world can offer, fourth, to look for connections and relationships even between things that may not seem related, and finally, to be the revolution or the ripple that will bring waves of change.

An entrepreneur and a sports analytics expert, Bill Velasco headed the High Touch sessions by talking about how companies can create strong connections with their customer in the digital sphere.

Break-out sessions were provided in the afternoon with two tracks: High Tech, which focused on integrating technology into business processes, and how it can exponentially upscale your workplace; and the High Touch sessions which included sessions on the importance of PR, tips on digital marketing and how to brand your business for success.

Meanwhile, the evening was dedicated towards providing insights for enterprises, led by Trend Micro Philippines’ Jessica Bernardo who shared the top ten IT predictions for the year.

Capping off the event was a brief update of Eastern Communications’ products, led by Edsel Paglinawan, Head of Product Innovation, who also discussed Eastern’s unique brand of High Tech and High Touch service.

“High Touch [service] is what sets us apart from others,” he said as he detailed how Eastern Communications practices excellent customer service from end to end, from delivering products and solutions, to designing networks and providing technical support to ensure they provide the strongest connections to customers.

He also emphasized that Eastern Communications’ products were designed with the company’s business needs in mind, thinking of how a company can earn from their IT investment or how it can become a tool of trade.

Edsel Paglinawan, Eastern Communication’ Head of Product Innovation, talked about Eastern’s latest products, including its ventures into Security and Services, which would help companies manage cybersecurity challenges, along with Cloud and Infrastructure Solutions.

Eastern Communications’ offers IDS or Internet Direct Service that can be customized and optimized based on a company’s requirements, such as their specific routing needs, which runs on redundant links, ensuring stable connections. For SMEs, they also have Fiber1, which utilizes fiber optic technology that allows customers to experience speeds of up to 100Mbps.

Aside from its Internet, Data and Voice services, Eastern Communications’ is also branching out to provide Managed IT Services such as managed security and Cloud and Infrastructure Solutions.
